Michael’s family arrived to farm in Suffolk in 1948 and has continued to live at the same home 8 miles from Sudbury. Both his father and younger uncle joined the Suffolk Regiment based in Bury St Edmunds.
Following school Michael studied music and later drama at The Guildhall School of music & Drama in London, leaving an actor for the next six years. His music training helped him to join The D’Oyly Carte Opera Company as Director for the following 9 years touring the Uk, Europe, Canada and USA.
On leaving he formed an event production consultancy with accounts as National Events Consultant to The Cancer Research Campaign, now CRUK, Mental Health Foundation and manager of the Royal Choral Society, promoting concerts at festivals in Europe, Royal Albert & Festival Halls with London’s top orchestras.
Much of his work involved recruiting sponsorship to cover the cost of production enabling profits for the charities; this included working with the press, BBC and London radio stations such as LBC & Capital Radio.
Latterly in Suffolk spent five years directing five open air shows at Rougham Airfield, Bury St Edmunds. He still occasionally records commercial voice overs. For the past 18 years Michael has been a volunteer on the Executive Committee of Sudbury Chamber of Commerce, his favourite town.
